History of the Appalachians
In the East, the Appalachian Mountains were formed about 375 millions years ago. It was most likely when the North American Plate and the Eurasian Plate collided during the formation of the supercontinent Pangaea.
These mountains have been worn down by ice and water to produce a landscpae of rolling hills and broad valleys. Most of the range is located in the United States however some of the mountain range extends over into the Atlantic part of Canada.
